Bishop Eneja is Prayerful, Dedicated and Committed by Ozo & Hon. Mrs. P. Orjiekwe

Bishop Eneja is somebody we know to a great extent. Our knowledge of the Bishop dates back to his days at St. Patrick’s Parish Iva Valley. Though a young man then his name rang a bell among the faithful of the Diocese of Enugu.

As young people we patronized bazaars in the various parishes of the Diocese St. Patrick’s Parish Ogbete, St. Brigid’s Parish, St. Michael’s and St. Patrick’s Parish, Iva Valley. In the said Bazaars at St. Patrick’s Parish, Iva Valley, the Parish Priest now, Bishop Emeritus, donated his Kit Car as the first prize in a raffle draw organized to raise the necessary funds for the development of the Parish which was not in a very fine position then. Incidentally, I bought a raffle ticket for the draw and later won the Kit-car.

The funny aspect of the raffle draw was that I did not see the ticket that won the first prize. I was not even sure where I kept the ticket. The Priest, insisted that as a mark of commitment that the winner of Kit car must be found. Several weeks later, a brother rushed to school where I was, to inform me that I have won a kit car. The Priest (B) made sure that all the winners were fetched ad their winnings presented to them. The aspect I wish to emphasize is the fact that the Bishop is painstaking and goes to any length to ensure the right is done.

The Bible
The Bishop Emeritus stirred his listeners with quotes from the bible. This positive action by the Bishop propelled the Laity and Clergy of the Catholic Church to spice their sermons with quotes from the Bible.

In the past, the Catholics shy away from quotes from the Bible but today this positive action of the Bishop lead the way in this director. It is a joy to listen to the precise homilies of the Bishop Emeritus during Masses spiced with quotes. The Catholics now emulate the Bishop in their sermons. They can now match their Protestants counterparts and even beat them in the game. The Bishop Emeritus lead the way in this direction.

Prayer
The Bishop is prayerful. He believes in the efficacy of prayers and advocates the need for prayers. There was an incident in my area. The parishioners were very much agitated about the parish priest and sent a delegation to the Bishop. After an interaction, the Bishop requested the parishioners to put the matter in prayers. The parishioners obeyed ad the matter was amicably resolved to the joy of everyone. The Bishop Emeritus insists that prayers said with faith are always heard.

Punctuality
The Bishop Emeritus is always punctual at function and occasion whether formal or not. He goes for excellence, I remember when he was searching for a Principal for CIC, Enugu and later found one. Nobody was disappointed with his choice. He also asks incisive question and of course you must be very careful with your answers. The Bishop Emeritus thinks most of the time about others and believes that no problem is insurmountable with prayers. A casein view is his relationship with his driver.

If you have a problem and after interaction with the Bishop Emeritus you will come out of the session feeling satisfied that a solution has been found to your problem.

In conclusion, we pray to the Almighty to give him the strength to continue the race to the end. One strongly believes that the Bishop Emeritus is a holy man of God. His ministry has been successful with establishment of places of learning and healing. His life has been exemplary. With this he has won many people to Christ. His commitment to duty is not comparable. He is very prayerful, dedicated and committed.

Stories have I that the Bishop Emeritus when he was much younger knelt on pebble during prayers as a mortification of his body. It was also told that the late Bishop Anyaogu was worried about his style of fasting and mortification.
