His Beliefs

  1. Total obedience to Church Authority, Priest/Bishop.

  2. We should have a total surrender to God’s will which us happen, no matter what we do.

  3. All we need to do is our sincere best and wait for God. That is why he often quoted Psalm 127 “Unless the Lord builds the castle, they labour in vain that build it”.

  4. He said: “If you worry too much God shall leave us to solve the problem. Hence, the need for patience I also believe that too much anxiety and force may be lack of faith.

  5. God’s Will cannot be stopped by and for anybody unless God does not want to carry it out.

  6. One day I went to ask him why his motto is “Viat Voluntas Tua”, may your will be done. And sometimes he keeps quiet while certain things are going wrong. He told me: “as a priest they put many huddles for me and only one God made me to jump them … So, do not worry yourself too much. Even for my being a Bishop my daily mass intention was that I should never become a bishop and that is what they made me. Only God’s Will can come like that”.

  7. He often said: “Accept your dislike”, is a principle of spirituality. This is a height of discipline since one has to swallow a lot of one’s opinion to implement this. It is behind his spirit and detachment.

  8. He always tells us to mortify our senses.

  9. He hardly complains, instead he suffers it himself (accepting dislike). One day I went to Msgr. A. Anijielo to help me find what to say regarding Bishop Eneja at 25 a Bishop, Anijielo replied “Bishop Eneja is an enigma. He hardly complains. You can only feel him. If he does not like the food, he does not company about it. He keeps others company at table by picking little quantity which he eats gradually while chatting with you. You observe him.

  10. He believes that everybody is a human being and appreciates openly anybody’s effort instead of looking for where one has made mistakes, and concerning efforts.

  11. He hates demoralizing people.

  12. He does not believe in physical violence and revenge but in waiting for God’s time in prayer. One day I went to tell him how the Protestants were harassing me in UNEC and I told him that I could give them a fight-back because “mu na gi anugu” (we are not the same). He told me “No! Sometimes, do not give people who want to fight you what they want. They want to destabilize you and you shall not improve. Go and pray, one day your church will be roofed and you will leave them in that multi-purpose hall”. Yes my Lord thank you. One day he called me and gave me $50,000 fifty thousand dollars he got from Spain in 1990 for the UNEC church and said “I wrote to them in my own handwriting to get this money for you. And this I do very rarely”. With this money the church was magically completed. Hence it answers miracle church.

  13. He told us priests: “Do not look for money too much, just do the church job (olu uka) and God will supply the materials for building this church. You may get the money but shall not be happy. His deep faith hides his annoyance in order not to inconvenience the person who has annoyed him. He treated me this way often and I felt bad myself thinking of how much he swallows.
